In 2013, Kazunori Nozawa, Tom Nozawa, Lele Massimini, and Jerry Greenberg brought Nozawa Bar to life. The intimate 10-seat sushi bar — tucked behind SUGARFISH in Beverly Hills and simply known to some as “Secret Sushi”— grew out of Nozawa’s original vision for a private “Westside Sushi Club.” The team created a 20-course omakase experience built on the Nozawa-style of sushi that focuses almost exclusively on sashimi and nigiri.
To helm the bar, the team turned to Chef Osamu Fujita, a longtime friend and colleague of Nozawa. Over the past 12 remarkable years, “Fuji,” as he’s affectionately known, has led Nozawa Bar, earning the restaurant numerous accolades and a devoted following.
In June 2025, Chef Fujita handed over the reins. He will continue working with Sushi Nozawa Group through the end of 2025, then retire in 2026 after more than 40 years as a sushi chef, returning to the Tokyo area.
